Surprised I’m the only review as of 01/12/22. The Savage Axis in 6.5 creed Moore is an underrated wonderful rifle for anyone. It’s bolt is smooth and the trigger isn’t half bad for the price point. I’ve owned mine for about seven years and can say it’s very accurate. Get some good glass for it as the scope it comes with signals the cheapness of this rig. But with a good scope I’ve lopped 6.5 XR rounds from one mountain side to another at roughly a mile. I’ve seen these jerry rigged and still hit game at a mile plus. It’s hard to thing a sub $500 rig can do this but it can , it has and it will. The Appalachian folks beat the heck out of this rifle and feed their families and I can attest to its durability making it a necessity for some.
Out of the box it needs cleaned and oiled as the rifle is coated in protectant. This rifle will drop black bear, white tail buck and my favorite wild hog. With hog you need at least one buddy for backup as hog hang in groups and once the savage 110 takes the big boy down you can’t slap the bolt fast enough for any of the rest that scatter. For the money, Savage nailed it with an affordable bolt action rifle that’s extremely accurate with the right glass and pretty good with the barska it comes with.
