Overreach Disguised as Safety
These proposals expand the definition of imitation firearms in ways that criminalize everyday recreational equipment. Air rifles have been a staple of American youth for generations, serving as safe, low-powered introductions to marksmanship. Instead of acknowledging that, Albany wants to treat them like dangerous replicas that must be painted in neon colors and locked behind age gates that exceed even some real firearm rules in other states. The result? More paperwork for retailers, higher costs passed to consumers, and yet another barrier for parents trying to pass along responsible gun-handling traditions.
A Slippery Slope for Second Amendment Rights
Pro-2A New Yorkers recognize the pattern here. First they come for the non-powder guns, then they tighten rules on actual firearms under the same "public safety" banner.
