Red Oktober: Cold War (ROCW) 2026
The 7th annual Red Oktober Cold War action rifle match will be hosted by RioMultigun during the first weekend of October.
This year, you can look forward to the same successful format as in previous years, with stages designed specifically for the weapons of the Cold Warrior. There will be 8 challenging run-n-gun rifle-only stages with targets ranging from 1 meter to 300 meters. Ammo count is expected to be around 250 rounds (please note that bimetal ammo is prohibited at this match).
The match will be run under IMA Competition rules (Time-Plus with Points) with ROCW equipment divisions as follows:
• ComBloc Irons: Any autoloading rifle derived from a Cold War-era Warsaw Pact/Eastern Bloc weapon. Iron sights only. Magazines limited to 30 rounds.
• Free World Irons: Any autoloading rifle derived from a Cold War-era NATO/Western Bloc weapon. Iron sights only. Magazines limited to 30 rounds.
• Battle Rifle Irons: Any autoloading rifle derived from a Cold War-era battle rifle. Battle rifle calibers only. Iron sights only. Magazines limited to 20 rounds.
• ComBloc Open: Any autoloading rifle derived from a Warsaw Pact/Eastern Bloc weapon. Optics allowed. No other restrictions.
• EuroTrash: Any autoloading bullpup rifle. Optics allowed. No other restrictions.
ComBloc Irons and Open competitors shooting 7.62x39 and similar calibers may select the "ComBloc Heavy" category. The 250-power factor requirement will be enforced with a chronograph.
Following competitor feedback, this year we will be offering the option to shoot the match over two half-days (Saturday & Sunday) instead of having to complete the whole match in one day, which some of you tell us can be hard going. There will also be limited slots available for competitors wanting to shoot with staff on Friday. Please indicate which squadding options are acceptable to you on the registration form below - we will adjust the squadding schedule to accommodate everyone's preferences as best we can before the withdrawal deadline.
If you have a "squad me with..." request, please email Steph prior to registration opening on Monday, March 23rd at 8am so she can make sure you get squadded with your family and friends.
Prize bags will be distributed by random draw as squads cycle through the demo stage. Trophies for each division and category, including the coveted "High Cold Warrior", will be awarded on Sunday afternoon along with additional door prizes (non-staff competitors only, must be present to win).

The match fee is $275, payable at the time of registration. A full refund (minus third-party processing fee) will be issued for withdrawal requests received via Practiscore prior to 11pm MST on August 15th. After this deadline, no refunds will be issued.
