Vale Steel Challenge - SCSA594 - October 2, 2026

We will start setup at 9:00AM and start shooting as soon as we're all ready.
This will be an approximately 5-hour match with all 8 of the official Steel Challenge stages. If you don't want to shoot all 8, you can leave at any time. See notes below for additional detail.
You can register a second gun but we may hold some of those for squadding. We are limited to 2 pits / 2 squads for now, but will expand to 4 pits / 4 squads as soon as we can.

This is an SCSA.org sanctioned Level I Steel Challenge match hosted by the Vale Steel Challenge Club.
$15 first gun, $5 second gun, cash only. First timers to this club shoot for free, kids ages 8 to17 are welcome and always shoot free, but must be supervised by a responsible adult for the entirety of the match.
If you leave early without completing the match -- assuming you were not DQ'd --, your completed stages will count as classifiers for personal bests, but of course, you won't get a complete match score. If there are enough requests for a weekly 4-stage match-within-the-match, we can make that happen.
GENERAL INFO and DIRECTIONS:

Round count is 195 plus misses. We will typically shoot all 8 of the official Steel Challenge (SCSA.org) stages, but may include provisional and non-standard stages. If you provide your SCSA member number, results will also be included in your Classification profile and available at SteelRankings.com as well as in the Score Tracker app by Gunz 'n Coffee. Match results will be available at PractiScore.com and in the PractiScore Competitor app.

Directions: From the town of Vale, Oregon travel south on Lytle Boulevard about two miles. The only signs are about fire danger and prohibition of exploding targets. Turn right onto the gravel road, then at the immediate fork turn left and follow the road for roughly a half mile to the range.
Park anywhere around the first two Conex containers or if that is full, go a bit further to park near the bathroom building.

If you are a new shooter or parent of a prospective new shooter, please read this section:
You are welcome to come shoot this match, BUT PLEASE DO NOT BUY ANY GUNS, AMMO, OR GEAR FIRST. You can come and watch a match before you play, but you will have more fun if you dive right in.
We will provide you with a rifle or pistol and all the magazines and ammo you will need to shoot your first match. No charge, no obligation, no kidding -- we love introducing new shooters to the sport.
There are myriad choices out there and it is overwhelming to choose your first gun. It is also silly to show up to a match with a completely wrong gun for this game (as I did on my first time :-). Almost all shooters love show-and-tell with their gear, so you can pick their brains and find out what you might like before you spend a fortune.
