July-2026 Smallbore Rifle Shooting

Smallbore rifle shooting is an event where you compete on various paper targets from 50 to 100 yards to improve your precision rifle skills. We host three formats of firing: 3-Position (kneeling, prone, & standing unsupported); Prone (no artificial support); and F-Class or Benchrest (artificial support authorized). Iron & Optic sights are authorized for all competitors. In Prone & 3-Position you may use a sling to support your shooting.
**********Location**********
This competition is held on the Blackhawk Shooting Range. Exit IH-35, Shepard Rd. As you drive on Shepard Rd. you will cross Pearsall Rd. Keep going until you reach Jarratt Rd. Turn left and go until you reach the bend in the road. Just past the bend is a sign for Blackhawk Range. Turn right on the dirt road and go approximately .5 miles to the range entrance.

Please Arrive No Later than 8 am, Competition starts at 9 am and should be concluded at approximately 2 pm.

$20 for adults
$10 for juniors
**********Course Of Fire**********
We at the South Texas Marksmanship Training Center use the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) approved courses of fire. These events are training for State, Regional, and National Championships as well as the Junior Olympics & Paralympic events. We may change the events to focus on particular stages or distance, as several shooters compete in National Events and would like to get extra training in weak areas. This will be noted prior to competition. The dates are set, the course may change.
