Pima Pistol Club IDPA Safety Officer Course (No shooting)

September 13 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm

This will be an IDPA Safety Officer (SO) training and certification class for anyone wishing to become an IDPA-certified Safety Officer (SO). If you are a current IDPA SO, you are also welcome to attend to learn more and share your experiences with the class.
The course will take approximately 4 hours in the classroom. There is no shooting for this class, but time will be provided for some hands-on exercises and other topics of discussion not covered in the required course materials.
There is no charge for this course; snacks and water will be provided.
The requirements to become an IDPA Safety Officer are:
• Be at least 21 years of age and be able to lawfully possess a firearm
• Be a current IDPA member in good standing for at least six months, and never have had your membership revoked.
• Complete an IDPA Safety Officer Class taught by an authorized IDPA Safety Officer Instructor (SOI) (this class)
There is a mandatory test that must be completed online before attending the class. Once you have completed it, please forward a copy of your exam certificate to the SOI at [email protected]. The details are below:
• The exam is open book; you can use the current version of the IDPA Rulebook and/or other materials, and consists of approximately 35 questions, randomly selected from a larger bank of questions focused on the IDPA Rulebook.
• A score of 70% or higher is required to pass.
• Feedback will be provided upon completion for any missed questions, but you may also bring it to class for discussion with the instructor.
• The test has a 3-hour time limit, but you may save your progress so it does not need to be accomplished in a single sitting.
• You may be asked for your IDPA Member Number so have it available.
• The web link to the SO Candidate exam can be found within your Member Dashboard on the IDPA website. If prompted, the password for the exam is: safety (all lower case)
If you have any questions, please reach out to Greg Guertin at [email protected]
