SUMMARY:Payson Long Gong
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Long Gong at the Tonto Rim Sports Club\nAll you need is a scoped .22LR rifle\, a bipod and separate rear bag. And 50 rounds of ammo.\nWe’ll supply three gong targets: 8"\, 6"\, and 4"\nYou shoot from the bench\, and the targets are 300 yards down range.\nThe object is to score as many points as possible with those 50 rounds. You get 1 point for each hit on the 8"\, 2 points for the 6"\, and 3 points for each hit on the 4" steel gong.\nSince this is a risk/reward competition\, you shoot for the 8" first\, and if you hit it\, you may move to the 6". Hit that\, and you can move on to the 4". A miss on the 6" or 4" means that you move back to the previous gong\, and must hit it before moving on. Each competitor shoots 5 10-round strings\, with the maximum possible score of 27 for each string (1+2+3+3+3+3+3+3+3+3) and 135 total for the match.\nIt's a game so simple a child can play; so challenging even the best shooters will never perfect it\, and to top it all off\, it’s highly addictive!\nCome join us for a Long Gong match on the 3rd Sunday of each month\, at the Tonto Rim Sports Club’s Jim Jones Shooting Range. Non-members welcome. While competitive in spirit\, these matches are fun shoots and we are willing to help if you are interested in joining us! Match fee $5. Please and choose a squad. Squads consist of 3 competitors: shooter\, spotter\, scorekeeper\, and you rotate thru each position.\nNote: The targets will be set up at 7:00\, with time available for sight setting. Also\, we will give one 2-minute sight-in time before your 1st round. DESCRIPTION:You will shoot a rimfire metallic silhouette match with NRA 1/5 scale targets - Chickens\, Pigs\, Turkeys\, and Rams\, ranging from 40 to 100 meters (44 to 109 yards).\nThe course of fire is done from benchrest position\, using benchrest or attached bipod\, and rear support bag. Prone position shooters shoot off crossed sticks with no rear support bags.\nWhat to Bring: Bolt action or semi auto rifle\, ammunition limited to .22LR. Ear & eye protection\, 70 to 100 rounds of target ammo\, bipod or benchrest and separate rear bag\, and spotting scope.\nScoring: One point for each target knocked over in the course of fire. Maximum score: 60 points\nMatch Scores are available via Practiscore Results: search for Payson Metallic Silhouette.\nTonto Rim Sports Club hosts a benchrest Metallic Silhouette match the fourth Saturday of each even-numbered month (February\, April\, June\, August\, October\, December). Set up begins at 7:30 am Summer and 8:30 am Winter\, on the Jim Jones shooting range High-Power range. Match is open to all ages and skill levels\, members and non-members alike. Juniors 18 and under\, must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
