DESCRIPTION:Match:  Falling Steel Format designed to be shot with pistols and rifles chambered in 22 Long Rifle.\nYou may register 2 guns max.\nDivisions:\n1.  22LR Pistol Irons (22PI) – Iron sights; 10 rounds\, maximum loaded rounds in mag\n2.  22LR Pistol Optic (22PO) – scope\, prism\, holographic\, laser or red dot sight; 10 rounds\, maximum loaded rounds in mag\n3.  22LR Rifle Irons (22RI) - Iron sights; 25 rounds\, maximum loaded rounds in mag\n4.  22LR Rifle Optic (22RO) - scope\, prism\, holographic\, laser or red dot sight; 25 rounds\, maximum loaded rounds in mag\nWritten Stage Briefing (WSB):  Approved by the Match Director and will be posted at each Stage prior to commencement of the match and provides the following minimum information:  Number of Targets\, Firearm ready condition\, Start position\, Any additional specific procedures.  The Match Director may modify a written stage briefing at any time for reasons of clarity\, consistency or safety.\nScoring:  Time + Penalties\nTargets:  White (active targets)\n               Red (no-shoots\, incurs 3 second penalty if target falls)\n               Black (hard target\, incurs no penalty if target falls)\nReloading:  All reloads must come from on-the person or as specified in the WSB.  On-the person means either from mag pouches\, chest rigs\, dump pouches\, pockets…etc.\nPenalties:  3 seconds per infraction\nRange Commands:\n1.  “Make Ready” – Assume Start Position and Firearm Ready Condition as specified in WSB\n2.  “Are You Ready?” -  Reaffirming competitor understands Course of Fire stated in WSB\n3.  “Standby” – This command should be followed by the start signal within 1 to 4 seconds\n4.  "Start Signal” – The signal for the competitor to begin their attempt at the course of fire.\n5.  “Stop” – This command may be issued at any time during the course of fire. The competitor must immediately cease firing\, stop moving and wait for further instructions.\n6.  “If You Are Finished\, Unload and Show Clear” or “Unload and Show Clear” – competitor presents firearm for inspection to the Range Officer with the muzzle pointed downrange\, magazine removed or cylinder open\, slide/bolt locked or held open\, and chamber empty.\n7.  “If Clear\, Holster/Bag” (self-loading pistols) or “If Clear\, Cylinder Closed\, Holster/Bag” (revolvers) or “If Clear\, Hammer Down\, Flag\, muzzle up or down” (Rifle).\n8. “Range Is Clear” – Course of fire has ended. Officials and competitors may move forward to score\, reset targets etc.\nDisqualifying (DQ) Offenses:\n1.   Negligent Discharge - a discharge of a firearm in an unsafe direction AND/OR in which the projectile (bullet) strikes the ground within 3 yards of the competitor or range officer or outside the confines of the backstop.\n2.  Dropping a loaded firearm or dropping a firearm while in the loading/unloading process.\n3.  Break the 180 degree Safety Plane (except while holstering\, drawing\, re- holstering a pistol\, or slinging/unslinging an empty long gun).\n4.  Unsportsmanlike conduct which includes\, but is not limited to cheating\, such as: altering targets\, scoresheets\, changing firearms configurations\, or pre-meditatively failing to engage targets to gain an advantage.\n5.  Unsafe gun-handling. This includes but is not limited to: handling a gun while people are downrange\, handling a gun on a stage without permission of the range officer\, abandoning a gun in an unsafe direction or in an unsafe manner\, pointing a gun in an unsafe direction\, or discharging a gun during the load and make ready or preloading process.\n6.  Handling ammunition in a Safe Area.  Safe Areas are the only areas a firearm may be handled and worked on by a competitor not under the direction of a Range Safety Officer.  Absolutely no ammunition to include\, snap caps\, laser cartridges\, expended brass are allowed in this area.\n7.   Cold Range - at no time may a competitor have a loaded firearm on them\, unless under the direction of a Range Safety Officer.  Leave your carry weapons in your vehicle.\n8.  Unbagging/Uncarting/Rebagging/Recarting Rifle with muzzle NOT pointed within 6 feet of a berm.  You may unbag/uncart your rifle with muzzle pointed within 6 feet of a berm immediately prior to stepping up to the start position if you are the next competitor in-line and also rebag/recart your rifle within 6 feet of a berm after you have completed your course of fire. YOUR RIFLE MUZZLE MUST BE POINTED AT THE BERM\, while performing these functions\, if not you will be DQ'd.\nCOMPETITOR EQUIPMENT:\n1.  All firearms and equipment used by competitors should be serviceable and safe.\n2.  Handguns may be holstered or bagged. holsters must be capable of retaining the handgun during vigorous movement and completely cover and protect the handgun’s trigger.\n3.  Rifles must have a chamber flag and may be bagged or placed on a cart muzzle facing down.

SUMMARY:Pinetucky Steel Challenge July 3-4 2026
DESCRIPTION:Match time is 10:00am for Friday and 10:00am Saturday. For those who have not shot a Steel Challenge match before\, arrive before 9:30 for registration and let the person doing registration know this is your first match. A separate short briefing will be held for new shooters. If paying by credit card\, arrive extra early and go up to the clubhouse to pay and bring receipt to registration.\nClub level 1 Steel Challenge match. Fun for everyone from Grandparents to Grandkids. 6 stages\, 150 rounds minimum\, but bring 250 rounds or more. Five mags per gun is nice\, but not required. If shooting a centerfire pistol\, you must have a holster.\n$20 for first gun\, $10 additional ($30 total) for second gun.\nDiscounts if applicable (only one per person\, whichever is higher):\nPinetucky Gun Club Member: $5 off\nCertified NROI USPSA RO\, CRO\, or RM: $5 off\nJuniors: First gun free ($20 off total)\nSetup Crew: First gun free ($20 off total)\, *available to the first 3 volunteers*\nShooters who help setup on Thursday afternoon will shoot for at discount ($20). Limited number of free slot available for setup crew.\nFriday squads are available to give an option to shoot on Friday instead of Saturday. Friday squads will start shooting around 10am. These will be limited to 10 gun squads so will tend to finish 45-60 minutes faster than on Saturdays. If you wish to shoot on Friday then register with the word Friday in the "Group" selection on the registration form along with anyone you may want to shoot with on Friday. If you shoot both Friday and Saturday\, it is 20 for the first gun each day and $10 for the second gun each day. Since it is one match for both days you cannot shoot the same division twice within the match.
