DESCRIPTION:Sacramento Defensive Pistol Shooters will be hosting the IDPA Orientation class Sat. June 6th from 8:30am-3:30pm.\nIf you would like to shoot an IDPA match\, this class will satisfy the prerequisite.\nThe course curriculum will cover:\nSacramento Valley Shooting Center Range #2 rules/cold range\nSafe gun handling/the 4 rules\nIDPA shooter actions and responsibilities/Safety officer commands and duties\nClassification and divisions\nBasic rules and scoring\nEquipment rules\nYou will demonstrate the ability to:\nLoad and safely holster your firearm\nDraw your firearm from holster and engage targets\nReload safely\, and re-engage targets.\nMove from multiple positions while pointing your loaded firearm in a safe direction.\nUnload your firearm and re-holster following Safety Officer's directions.\nThis is not a beginner firearms class.  Participants need to be able to safely load\, unload\, fire their firearms\, clear malfunctions and follow Safety Officer commands. Participants will need to bring an appropriate holster\, magazine pouch\, a minimum of 3 magazines\, 150 rounds of ammunition\, a serviceable firearm\, eye and ear protection. DESCRIPTION:The March Match Director is Neil Tagmani.\nCSO/SO have priority registration. Once we have two Safety Officers to run each squad registration will be open to all.\nAny help setting up the match at noon on Saturday the 6th will be greatly appreciated.\nMust have prior IDPA/USPSA competition experience or have attended an approved training class in order to compete.\nMatch fees are $22 for members\, $32 for non-members\, $12 for first time shooters with our club.\nWithdraw / Refund Policy:\nThere will be a $5.00 restocking fee for all withdraws. SUMMARY:SVSS June 21 2026 Steel Challenge
DESCRIPTION:Steel shooting is a sport in which competitors are required to combine speed and accuracy to successfully complete the match. SVSS uses all 8 of the official steel challenge stages. All the stages are 5 strings of 5 shots each\, exept "Outer Limits" which is four strings\, requiring the shooter to engage steel targets from 7 to 35 yards. The targets vary in size from 10"\, to 12" round targets and 18" x 24" rectangles.  Sometimes a couple of stages are replaced with " outlaw" stages. There is no power factor like in USPSA\, IDPA\, and ICORE matches\, and the targets do not fall.
