SUMMARY:SUPS Introduction to Competitive Shooting Clinic 2026-07-18
DESCRIPTION:This clinic is designed for individuals who want to sharpen their shooting skills and unleash their competitive spirit. It is not designed for brand-new shooters. You should already be comfortable with your own pistol or rifle.\nThe Southern Utah Practical Shooting Range (SUPS) wants to provide a friendly\, encouraging\, and informative environment for anyone who is considering getting into shooting competitions. To that goal\, we want to get you started on the right foot.\nThis means understanding what USPSA matches require of every shooter\, starting with safety\, common equipment used\, range commands\, basic techniques\, scoring and penalties\, and how to use a free application called PractiScore to sign up for your first match and see your scores. Our emphasis is on Safety\, Fun\, and Learning.\nThe clinic is being held on the first and third Saturday of each month and will last for approximately two hours. We will get started at 9:00 a.m. sharp\, so please arrive no later than 8:45 a.m. You will shoot four timed stages of increasing levels of difficulty. In addition\, we will watch one of the USPSA stages that is taking place. Since each of these disciplines is very different\, you will get the chance to see which you like best.\nItems Required to Bring to the Clinic\nEye and ear protection. Eye protection should be ANSI-rated; fashion glasses are not safe.\nYour favorite semi-auto rimfire or centerfire pistol or PCC in an appropriate storage bag or case.\nA holster for your pistol (if you have one) and a chamber flag for your rifle.\nApproximately 100–150 rounds of ammunition and two or more magazines.\nWater\, snacks\, and appropriate clothing for the weather.\nArrive with all firearms bagged or cased. You will handle your firearm only at a designated Safe Area.\nNew: If you have questions ahead of time or have trouble signing up\, email me at jeff@supsrange.com. Class size is limited to five participants to maximize your learning experience.\nNote: Clinic dates may change around the major matches we hold. For the most current schedule of events\, it is always best to check our website\, www.supsrange.com\, and sign up for the weekly newsletter.\nThe Southern Utah Practical Shooting Range is the last range on the right side of the road\, past the Red Cliffs range. We meet at the small building with the porch called the “Stat Shack.”\nWe are excited that you are interested in competing and look forward to seeing you at the range!
