SUMMARY:BRSP Tuesday Skills and Drills - April 7 Entries and Exits
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to Tuesday evening Skills and Drills practice sessions at Birchwood!\nEach session we will work on a skill\, drill\, stage or prop used in the action shooting sports. This is open for all skill levels from the experienced competition shooter to the guy or gal that purchased their first firearm a few days ago. If you are super new – just let the Range Officer know so they can give you a little extra help.\nWe will usually be on F Range. You must check in inside the clubhouse and get a wristband (which must be worn somewhere visible) before proceeding to the range. Sessions start at 7:00pm and will end at 8:45pm. Group size is limited to ensure that everyone gets shooting time in. Coaching will be provided and is encouraged.\nPlease arrive with magazines loaded and guns unloaded. We run a cold range just like for a match. If you arrive carrying a loaded firearm\, please unload and clear BEFORE entering the skills bay. Use the designated safety table on the range to unbag\, holster or handle your already-unloaded firearm. Long guns must be cased or have a chamber flag inserted and must be carried MUZZLE UP at all times. All firearm handling on the range must be at the safety table\, except when shooting under supervision of the Range Officer.\n— Withdrawal requests submitted by the Sunday before the session will receive a refund\, minus credit card processing fees.

SUMMARY:.22 Silhouette Practice and Airguns welcome!
DESCRIPTION:22 Rimfire and Air guns only- Silhouette target shooting at the MPR. \nOffhand/Standing shooting at Metal Animal silhouettes with rifles or pistols\, open or scoped sights allowed. \nBenches are available during this practice period every Wednesday \nMembers of all 5 clubs are welcome.\n Fees are collected at the Multi Purpose Range\, not at the USI Clubhouse .\nThe MPR is the building on the right hand side as you pass the Public Range\, but before the Impalement Arts Range.\nLook for the red MPR flag on the flag post- that’s us!\n\nUSI waiver and a Blue Card issued from the USI clubhouse required prior to the match- there is no charge to these one time processes.\n\nA silhouette is a steel profile of an animal (chicken\, pig\, turkey\, or ram) standing on a pedestal. The object of the game is to knock as many silhouettes as possible off the stand\, shooting one round at each silhouette. It is a very simple competition\, with very simple scoring: Knocking an animal off its stand counts as a hit.\n\nAlthough silhouette is an easy game to learn\, it is not an easy game to master. The animals are rather small and the distances can reach out a bit; you must shoot offhand (standing); a moderate breeze can move a bullet or a pellet the width of an animal; your concentration becomes more difficult to hold as you knock down five in a row or with a close miss.  Silhouette is an endless challenge that makes you a better shooter!\nThis is a reoccurring event every Week- we intend to host this practice barring weather or extraordinary barriers preventing the event from occurring in a safe environment. Heavy fog\, severe weather or other acts of nature could force a postponement.\n\n+ GOOGLE CALENDAR+ ICAL EXPORT\n\n\nRelated Events

SUMMARY:2026 Magpul Texas 3-Gun Championship Staff Registration
DESCRIPTION:The Magpul Texas 3-Gun Championship has grown to be one of the premiere shooting events in the United States\, and that is due in large part to your dedication and passion. Every year we hear lots of compliments on the friendliness and professionalism of our staff\, and the results speak for themselves: the match sells out in just minutes\, and we will have over 100 shooters on the wait list. \nThings will operate this year much as they have in previous years. We will pay each of you $400 in travel reimbursement\, and will provide lunch each day of the match. Dinner will be provided on Saturday night as we give away the staff prizes. BBQ lunch will be served at the lakeside pavilion at the completion of shooting on Sunday. You will receive 3 match shirts to be worn during the event.\nAll staff prizes are given away via random draw. We keep scores during the staff match\, but they have no bearing on prizes\, so you don’t have to shoot the staff match to be eligible for prizes. \nYou are responsible for making your own lodging arrangements! The match takes place on the same weekend as the Bluebonnet Festival\, so I recommend making lodging reservations as soon as possible.\nWe welcome new faces\, so if you know anyone who would like to staff the match\, please feel free to send them the staff registration email\, or they can reach out to me directly.\nPlease let me know if you have any questions. I look forward to working with each of you\, and thank you for being a part of the Magpul Texas 3-Gun Championship!\nAaron Hayes\nMatch Director\n512-589-9517\ncontact@centexshootingsports.com

SUMMARY:Practical Shooting 1
DESCRIPTION:Practical Shooting 1 is a 2-hour class designed to prepare you for your first practical shooting match\, or refine your fundamentals. This course addresses the foundational skills to practical shooting in a fun and challenging way. \nPractical Shooting 1 sets a strong base for the beginning of your competitive shooting journey. The instructor’s goal for this course is to prepare you for the widely available practical shooting matches in the DFW area\, to include our own here at Defender Outdoors. For those who have already shot some matches but are looking for more than the basics\, please contact the instructor for a private lesson or look for our Practical Shooting 2 class. \nTopics Covered: \n\nPhysical structure\, grip\, and vision\nPredictive and reactive shooting\nConfirmation levels\nTarget transitions\nEntries and exits\nShooting on the move\nHit factor scoring\nProper equipment configuration\n\nWhat To Know Before You Get Here: \nWe request that all students do an honest self-evaluation of experience and skill level. Taking one of these classes or a private lesson will set the stage to come into Practical Shooting 1. \nAt a minimum\, we recommend that you have confidence in the following: \n\nStrong understanding of the 4 Universal Rules of Firearm Safety\nYour accuracy out to 25 yards\nSafe draw from the holster and experience with your equipment\nProficiency with your firearm and the ability to clear any malfunctions\nHave any questions about the gear you have? We will likely need to split up groups of inexperienced shooters/competitors for both safety and efficiency but will try to keep families together where possible. Please note\, when a family member is on the line\, they are under the care of the range officer. Please do not distract them from following the RO’s instructions. If the RO is unfamiliar with the operation of your particular firearm\, they will ask for assistance as needed. If a shooter would like coaching or advice while you are shooting\, please let the RO know and they should be happy to oblige. \nA note regarding classifications\nClassifications are used to help competitors measure their success against shooter shooting with a similar ability and skill set. A D class production shooter and a Grand Master rimfire rifle open shooter can’t be equally compared. In order to earn a classification\, you must be a current USPSA member and complete any 4 stages in a single division.\nRule book\nThe official steel challenge rule book governs all of our matches please make sure to give it a read through so that you are familiar with the rules\, commands\, and equipment divisions.\nhttps://scsa.org/rules \nSafety\nWhile no one wants to disqualify (DQ) a shooter\, safety is our top priority. If you commit a serious safety infraction\, as noted in the rules\, you will be done shooting for the day. Any scores completed to that point will stand but you will not be able to continue shooting the match. It will be up to the match director’s discretion as to whether you may remain on the range. If you are permitted to remain to watch friends/family shoot\, you may not handle any uncased firearms for the remainder of the day. Example of serious\, DQ-able\, violation include\, but are not limited to\, Ammo on the safe table\, loaded firearms off the firing line\, negligent discharge of a firearm\, muzzle sweeping yourself or others\, picking up a dropped gun\, and dropping a loaded gun during a course of fire.
