SUMMARY:Oct 29 2026 Action Rife Match at SharpShooters Indoor Range
DESCRIPTION:Sharpshooters Indoor Range Action Rifle Match (Cold Range\, ensure all firearms are empty before entering the store).\nThe Match consists of 2-3 stages of action rifle target shooting (typically IDPA-style cardboard\, but may have other target types). We typically IDPA scoring. Centerfire calibers are restricted to 223/556 55gr lead core and all PCC calibers. Suppressors and legal SBRs are welcome. We will allow rifle-caliber pistol configurations as long as they are over 20" in length. No tube mag loaders or single gate loading rifles (Marlin Model 60\, lever guns\, etc.). Don't have a rifle\, come anyway and someone will loan you one\, just purchase appropriate ammo at the range (typically 22LR. 9mm\, or .223 Rem). All rifles in the bay must have a chamber flag in place at all times when not in use if you don't have one\, purchase at the range. You can also make one with a length of knotted contrasting colored rope or weed cutter line\, or a zip tie.\n50 rounds minimum. You may only sign up for 1 division at this time.

So let's see those Wheel Guns.\nThough you may register in multiple divisions\, you may only register once in any individual division.\nSCORING:\nWe will use the normal Steel Challenge Scoring.\nSAFETY AREAS:\nThurmont is a COLD range.\nFirearms must be unloaded at all times except during the match under the direct supervision of a safety officer (SO).\nHandling of firearms at vehicles is prohibited. Long guns must have an EMPTY CHAMBER INDICATOR (Chamber Flag) IN PLACE at all times starting from the moment the rifle is uncased for placement in a gun cart or brought to the shooting position.\nPistols may be unbagged and holstered ONLY at designated Safety Areas or unbagged under the direction of a RO/SO at the shooting position.\nSafety Areas are clearly marked with signs.  If the table doesn't have a sign marked "Safety Area" then it isn't one and Gun Handling is not allowed there but ammunition handling is.\nNO AMMUNITION HANDLING in safety areas. Use of suppressors is not prohibited but the match director can not assure accurate times.\nAll pistol calibers permitted. As per SCSA rules the maximum velocity for any Handgun or Pistol Caliber Carbine shooting steel is 1600fps. There is an air conditioned classroom with seating for 50 and two picnic tables available. The last event sold out so sign up as soon as you can.
