New shooters\, or anyone who would like a safety refresher\, MUST be present by 5:30 p.m. for safety brief. DESCRIPTION:SIG SAUER Academy will be hosting monthly new competitor matches from 6-9pm.\nThis event is planned for 2-3 Stages.\n***If you’re approved from the waitlist\, please pay the match fee within 24 hours. Unpaid competitors will be removed after 24 hours and the next competitor from the waitlist will be approved.***\nThe intent of this event is to provide first time competitors with a stress free\, friendly environment. Where they can learn about competitive shooting through practical application. Shooters will be “coached\,” by the competition staff on rules\, walk throughs and general stage execution.\nCompetitors must bring a suitable firearm\, belt mounted holster they feel comfortable drawing from\, enough magazines to carry 30 rounds\, and 100 rounds of ammunition. It's recommended that competitors bring magazine pouches but you're also welcome to put spare magazines in your pockets if you don't have magazine pouches. No pocket\, ankle\, or small of the back\, fanny pack\, or off-body holsters. IF you registered for the new competitor 2-gun match\, please also bring a serviceable semi-automatic rifle with a minimum of two magazines. Please ensure said rifle is brought into the facility in a case or bag and remains in the bag until we enter the range. Chamber flags are encouraged but not required.\nAll Competitors are expected to demonstrate safe weapons handling at all time. To include drawing from the holster\, safely loading/ unloading firearms\, shooting while moving etc. Failure to do so will result in removal from the match at the discretion of the staff.\nCompetitor check in will begin at 5:30pm at the SEC range counter\, safety brief location will be announced there and will start at 6:00pm.\nAll competitors and visitors entering the SEC ranges must complete an electronic waiver annually. Waivers can be completed at the SEC range desk.\nAll firearms shall be unloaded and cased upon entering the facility. Once checked-in and inside the shooting bays\, the Range Officers will walk you through the process of gearing up with your firearm. This event will be a "COLD RANGE". Do NOT gear up in any location other than on the range under the supervision of the competition staff.\n***All competitors 18 years of age or under must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian. DESCRIPTION:22LR Falling Steel Match at Sharpshooters Indoor Range (Cold Range\, make sure all firearms are completely empty before coming in the store).\nA head-to-head match where 2 shooters compete to knock down five 6"x 8" steel plates from their respective sides\, using only 22LR Rifles or Pistols\, 10 rounds max. They are usually conducted as a double-elimination match with one-time buy-ins for $5 up to the 3rd round. New shooters will shoot at least 3 times. If there are fewer than 16 entries\, we may go to triple elimination with no buy-ins. Pairing is randomized as much as possible\, but repeat pairings will occur. There are 2 separate divisions\, Rimfire Rifle and Rimfire Pistol (any sighting system). A free match pass is presented to each division winner. Sponsored shooters are not eligible. All scores will be posted on the Upstate Sport Shooting Group FB page. Minimum Equipment: Rifle must have a safety flag\, 2 mags loaded to 10\, eye and ear protection. Pistol in a safely secured container (Holster\, Range Tray\, Range Bag\, or zippered gun rug)\, 2 mags loaded to 10\, eye and ear protection.\nYou may sign up for 2 divisions. There will be a $5 fee for a second division.\nIf the shooters tie in their round\, they will be loaded up with another 10 rds to break the tie. If all plates are knocked down in a tie\, 2 plates will be set up for each shooter to resolve the tie.
