SUMMARY:SSD Short Range Match - 31 October 26
DESCRIPTION:Hi Everyone:\nThe next Sensible Self Defense Academy Short Range Match is Saturday\, 31 October 2026\nCedar Ridge Range\, 7110 Farm to Market 1863\, Bulverde\, TX 78163\nPlease note the start time is 3:30 pm.\nCHECK-IN: 2:45 pm – 3:15 pm\nWe welcome walk in registration if you decide to attend at the last minute.\nSet up crew please arrive at 1:00 pm. Very important -- No set up crew\, no match. Please send me a note if you can assist with set up.\nCASH ONLY - Cost is $30.00 for one gun; shooting a second gun or shooting the match twice is an extra $10.00.\nPlease Note: This is not an IDPA Match--Practiscore essentially forces us to use the IDPA scoring format and lists it as such.\nWe will close Check-In at 3:15. If you are running late\, that's OK. Please call or text me and I will leave you on the match roster. As a courtesy to other shooters\, please withdraw if you cannot attend.\nEQUIPMENT: You need your pistol\, 3 magazines (minimum)\, a holster\, and magazine carrier. Revolver shooters need the equivalent for their pistols.\nYou may also shoot a Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) in 22 LR\, 9mm\, 10mm\, .40 S&W\, .45 ACP\, 44 Magnum\, .357 Magnum\, or 30 Carbine.\nYou may shoot larger calibers .556\, 300 Blk Out\, etc IF THE RIFLES ARE SUPPRESSED. You must use a suppressor on large caliber rifles. Please bring PCCs and rifles in a case or cart.\nIf you wish you may shoot pistol caliber manual rifle. Manual rifles will only need to place one “zero” down hit to neutralize the target for some stages. You may shoot a large caliber manual rifle (e.g. 30-30 or larger) but it must be suppressed as well.\nAmmunition: Less than 150 rounds depending upon how you shoot the match.\nFor More Information or Questions: ericlamberson@sensibleselfdefense.com\nShort-Range Course of Fire \nThe Short Range Match uses IDPA-style scoring and follows IDPA safety principles; however\, generally no target will be greater than 15 yards away from the shooter. Most stages are based upon a real-life event that was recorded on video and adapted for a square range. Otherwise\, it is a regular course of fire\, with some stages requiring a reload. When I send out the match results I include a link to the video of the events from that match. The idea is for the shooter to solve the problem and then view the video of the actual event to understand how it happened in real-life. \nThe short-range course of fire match seeks to replicate real life scenarios where you are more likely to use carry-suitable handguns. The match's guiding principle is to improve concealed carry skills. Ideally\, shooters will use a pistol they carry to shoot the match. All pistols may be loaded to magazine capacity; however\, the match may have some reloads on the clock or some malfunction drills. \nShooters may use any belt holster and magazine carrier/speed loader carrier suitable for carrying the pistol concealed. Shooters may reload from the pocket; however\, no drawing a pistol from the pocket\, a fanny pack\, shoulder holster\, etc. If in doubt\, please ask. \nFor More Information or Questions: \nericlamberson@sensibleselfdefense.com\n210-571-1617\nRegards\, Eric

SUMMARY:Flagstaff Action Shooters Outlaw Multi-Gun Halloween 2026
DESCRIPTION:This will be a mostly Two Gun rifle/pistol match\, and will start with a mandatory safety briefing around 10 am. It will definitely have a Halloween theme\, and may involve smashing pumpkins. $40 per shooter\, or $20 per shooter in costume.\nA couple of important points:\n1. This is NOT a good match for a brand new shooter. Experience with competitive shooting or attendance to our Introduction to Competitive Shooting is mandatory.\n2. In order for us to hold this match\, we need people to step up to help with it. There is a list of options below for you to choose how you would like to help.\n3. If you have any questions about the match\, please email us.\n4. The "outlaw" part means that we will be relaxing some of the stage design requirements.\nArrive early to assist with setup\, and definitely early enough to sign the waiver\, pay the match fee\, and get your gear ready. You may not shoot if you are not at the safety briefing.\nWe operate on cold range rules... all firearms are to be unloaded when you enter the range and not loaded until directed by a safety officer.\nSERPA style holsters are not permitted on this range\, unless the trigger finger release has been permanently disabled.

SUMMARY:Port Townsend Falling Plates Oct 31 2026
DESCRIPTION:This is a fast paced head-to-head competition of two shooters engaging sets of falling plates with the winner being the first to shoot down the overlapping popper plate.\nEach competitor goes to the line with two magazines for each pairing loaded with six rounds in each mag; this is to keep it fair for revolver shooters. Expect to shoot 200-250 rounds. The entry fee is $5 per gun\, you may enter up to two guns. Set-up and sign-up starts at 9am and shooting starts at 10am.\nThis match is for most centerfire and .22 LR pistols. If your pistol has optics or it's a race gun go ahead and bring it. Many shooters will show up with multiple guns so a good matchup always happens. Rimfire is now allowed as we have purchased a new rimfire competition plate rack. Full power magnums are not allowed as they destroy the plates. Rifle rounds are not allowed for the same reason.\nFun is paramount in this match! Sportsmanship and handicapping yourself if you have an advantage is always encouraged. This simply means that your status as a new or inexperienced shooter or firearms with optics or race guns will be taken into consideration for each matchup. The regular competitors are inventive and can create numerous matchups variations.\nYou will have fun!\nPay at the match.\nPrice:\n$5.00

SUMMARY:Built Different: For Her Hosted by Firearm Logic and Body by Julia
DESCRIPTION:Built Different: For Her is a hands on firearms training experience designed to help women develop the confidence\, safety\, and practical skills needed to handle a firearm effectively.\n## Lead Instructor: Dennis Tran\nDennis Tran is the founder and lead instructor of Firearm Logic. He has spent the past five years traveling throughout the country and competing in practical shooting at a high level.\nDennis created Firearm Logic to bring the skills he developed through competition back to his community in Arizona. His primary focus is helping law enforcement officers\, including SAU and SWAT personnel\, improve their practical shooting performance. Firearm Logic also hosts Arizona’s largest recurring monthly match exclusively for law enforcement and first responders\, serving more than 100 participants each month.\nBuilt Different: For Her brings that same practical approach to women who want to become safer\, more confident\, and more capable with firearms.\n## Body by Julia\nJulia Nista\, founder of Body by Julia and the Girl’s Club Mixer\, has spent over five years helping hundreds of women across the Valley improve their strength\, confidence\, and independence through health and fitness. Julia is an Arizona State University alumna\, Certified Personal Trainer\, and Nutrition Coach with a passion for fitness and self development.\nThrough this collaboration\, Julia wants to give women another practical skill set that can help them feel more capable of protecting themselves and their loved ones.\n## Assistant LE Instructors\nThe class will also be supported by active law enforcement professionals who believe in the mission of developing confident and capable women.\nAshley Elliff - Mesa PD Detective\nElsie Brink - Mesa PD Sergeant\nTaylor Zalba - Mesa PD Ofc.\n## Training Experience\nThis is an active\, hands on class. Dennis believes in learning through action\, so instruction will be followed immediately by practical repetitions.\nStudents will spend time handling firearms in a controlled environment before moving into live fire. The objective is for every participant to become comfortable handling a firearm safely and develop the structure needed to shoot accurately and consistently at distances of up to 10 yards.\nTraining will focus on:\n• Universal firearm safety principles\n• Safe loading\, unloading\, and handling\n• Proper grip\, stance\, and body structure\n• Sight alignment and visual confirmation\n• Trigger control\n• Recoil management\n• Accurate and consistent shooting\n• Building confidence through structured repetitions\nNo previous shooting experience is required.\n## Firearms\nParticipants are highly encouraged to bring a firearm they already own\, preferably one equipped with a red dot optic. Training with your own firearm will help you become more familiar and confident with the equipment you would actually use.\nFirearm rentals will be available for an additional cost. Rental firearms will be comparable to a compact or full size Glock 19\, Glock 17\, or Glock 47 equipped with a red dot optic.\n## Provided\n• Ammunition\n• Targets\n• Eye protection\n• Hearing protection\n• Hands on instruction\n• Goody bag from supporting sponsors\nBring water\, snacks\, comfortable clothing\, closed toe shoes\, and an open mind. Be prepared to get hands on\, put in repetitions\, and leave with a stronger understanding of how to handle and operate a firearm safely and confidently.
