Support A Soldier is a non-profit headquartered here in GJ that raises money to equip our “in the field” armed forces (mostly Special Forces) with the non-lethal items they need to stay safe and efficient while in combat…stuff they just can’t get from Uncle Sam. This is an important cause and all match expenses\, except for the $10 range fee\, are being covered so that the match fees you pay go directly to helping fund SAS’s needs for our guys keeping us safe!\nThe match fee will be $50 to support this cause\, $10 goes towards range fees and the rest to S-A-S. Action Pistol Group is sponsoring the expendables and payment processing fees\, and several other benefactors are covering the USPSA Activity fee to ensure that we are raising as much support as possible for the soldiers.\nThe match will begin at 10am and end around 3pm.\nThere will be no big prize table or trophies. DESCRIPTION:Ready for a challenge? A STEEL CHALLENGE! The most fun you can have with a gun legally.\n*** 9 am start ***\nCHECK-IN 30 minutes before the match Saturday\, at Camp Savage. Shooters need to sign the waiver\, pay the match fee\, and prepare for the match. Come an hour earlier to help with setup.... You must be present for the safety briefing to participate.\nThe match will be at Camp Savage\, and the fee will be $15 for FAS members\, $25 for non-members. Membership is $50 per year. Kids shoot free. This is payable at the range\, cash or check. We do NOT use PractiScore membership.\nDirections to Camp Savage: http://flagstaffactionshooters.org/location\nEye and ear protection are required\, even for spectators\, and you must be present at the safety briefing at the start of the match to participate. All shooters and observers must sign a waiver.\nWe operate under cold range rules. Do not exit your vehicle with a loaded weapon. The only time we handle firearms is at a "safe table" (without ammo)\, or at the at the firing line under the direction of a safety officer. Firearms remain unloaded until the safety officer directs the participant to "make ready."\nDue to the unique nature of the Steel Challenge\, drawing from concealment or from inside the waist band is not allowed. Also\, no SERPA or other trigger finger release holsters (unless permanently disabled and allowed by the match director or range master).\nPlan on a total round count of ~100\, many of us bring 200 rounds to be safe (or because we miss a lot).\nThis is a rimfire friendly sport. If you are deficient in equipment get in touch and we can try to figure out loaner equipment.\nCore components of any brutality stage are designed around running\, crawling\, carrying\, lifting\, dragging\, throwing\, or climbing\, and often some combination of the above combined with testing your marksmanship skills. We encourage everyone to participate but be aware of the physical exertion involved.\nPractice fee is $10. If you are not a PCDHFC member it will be an additional $10 for the day card insurance. CASH on match day only.\nThis will be a 1-Gun or 2-Gun event: Rimfire Rifle and a Pistol if you have one.\nAny rimfire rifles/cartridges are allowed. Pistol calibre rifles (such as lever actions) are allowed but must adhere to the Pistol calibre rules.\nPistol calibers up to 9mm\, 45ACP\, 38SPL\, etc.\nNO CENTERFIRE RIFLE CARTRIDGES\, STEEL CORE\, AP OR LAP\, TRACER\, ETC FOR ANY PLATFORMS.\nIf you are shooting a pistol please bring a holster even if you do not have a holster qualification. It will be used in an administrative carry fashion and helps to speed up the match significantly. If you do not have a holster please contact us as we may have workable spares.\nBrutality stages are shot entirely on steel\, and the required number of impacts are required to progress (ie: the better you shoot the closer to the minimum round count you will be).\nMinimum round count is 150 rounds for rifle and 100 for pistol. It is recommended to bring double the minimum in case of misses. A more exact round count will be provided closer to the match day.\nMatch is held on Range 1 (https://maps.app.goo.gl/74Vw84JAQQvCSDqh7). Parking next to Range3/Traphouse is allowed.\nWe aim to accommodate all shooters but there are some minimum gear requirements:\nHearing protection.\nWraparound and Safety Rated Eye Protection. You need proper eye protection as we shoot steel.\nGloves\, elbow and knee pads are highly recommended.\nChamber flags for rifles\, a holster for your pistol.\nAbility to carry at least 40 rounds of ammunition for pistol and rifle (Suggested but not required you can carry more if you are shooting rifle only.) Magazine pouches or other load bearing equipment are best. Large pockets or a dump pouch work in a pinch).\nActive footwear\, clothing suited for the weather\, and other considerations such as water\, lunch/snacks\, sunscreen\, etc.\nElbow and Knee pads are not required but may be desired.
