Students will learn the terminology and range commands used in the sport of IDPA.\nThe following skills/techniques will be taught and then practiced under the supervision of experienced and currently certified IDPA Safety Officers:\nLoading and unloading the gun while on the line;\nDrawing from a holster and acquiring a target;\nProper clearing of the gun at the end of a course of fire;\nHolstering the gun; target transitions; engaging targets in tactical priority; slide-lock reloads; tactical reloads with retention;\nShooting on the move (forward\, backward\, laterally);\nShooting strong hand\, weak hand\, and freestyle;\nProper use of cover; muzzle control while competing; and scoring of targets.\nCertified IDPA Safety Officers teach the basics at the IDPA ranges. The students then proceed to the different pits where a team of certified SOs run students through a small match. Stages are designed to complement the classroom teaching\, and provide practical illustrations to many of the rules of IDPA.\nCost is $25 for non-Old Colony members. You must be qualified to shoot to 600 meters at the MilCun Training Center.\nThe practices are based on the precision/sniper rifle matches. They are fired in shooter-spotter pairs. The matches include deliberates (at 100 and 600 meters)\, snaps (at 200\, 300\, and 500 meters)\, and movers (at 200 and 400 meters). You can download the course of fire from the osacanada.ca website (at the bottom of the Events page).\nAmmunition must be proven safe in your rifle; you must have previously fired at least 50 rounds of this load in this rifle. If the ammo shows any signs of excess pressure\, you must withdraw. You'll probably need about 100 rounds for the day\, but it's best to bring double.\nWorking electronic ear defenders and safety glasses are mandatory. One spotting scope per pair is required.\n$75.00 for non-members. $25.00 off for OSA members\, $25.00 off for OSA affiliate members. If you're under 18\, register as a junior.
