SUMMARY:Long Range Rifle Fundamentals Course - Part 1 (100 Yards) 22-23 Aug 2026
DESCRIPTION:Google Directions for Langemark Gate: https://maps.app.goo.gl/o26fswaVjQdT6g8k7\nQuestions? Head Coach: Coach Sammy craig@coachsammy.ca\nLine Coaches: Coach Mike\, Coach Phil\nThis course is about Fundamentals that you need to learn and use unconsciously to shoot long range with precision and accuracy. It is for new or partly experienced shooters\, shooters without fundamentals and rifle set up\, or shooters that need to remove bad habits to progress. A large percentage of the work a Long Range Shooter does is at 100 yards\, such as zero\, scope ladder tests\, scope box tests\, ammo development etc. This is done at 100 yards because you want to remove all the variables. Fundamentals are what all skills and experience are built on top of and learning them will give you a solid foundation for Parts 2 & 3 of this course to shoot out to 1000 yards.\nCovered are set up of your rifle\, ammo\, scope\, trigger\, bipod\, rear bag\, recoil management\, sight picture\, safety\, and fundamentals are taught on this course. The aim will be to train shooters to be able to consistently shoot 5 round groups of 1 MOA or less\, which is a general requirement of long range matches.\nWhat this course is:\n- Learn rifle marksmanship principles and long range shooting fundamentals\, set up of your rifle\, and fitment of your rifle to become a safe and accurate shooter. Learn to shoot zeroed and centred groups every time based on the capability of your equipment\, ammo\, and ability. If you learn to shoot a small centered repeatable group at 100 yards\, you can hit at 1000 yards\, once you learn elevation\, wind and secondary effects. This is applicable to competition and hunting.\nWhat this course is not:\n- It is not a “Intro to shooting” type course.\nIt is specifically for Long Range Rifle fundamentals as a platform to build further skills and experience on top of\, to progress to the next level.\nWhat you will learn at the Course:\n- Shoot up to 100 rounds & learn to shoot small groups that are centred\, and how to quickly set up your scope and slip turrets to enact a zero.\n- Learn how to set up your rifle for best fit and results\, and about ammo choices that make you consistent\, and what equipment will give you more consistency.\n- Learn Long Range Fundamentals and apply them to your shooting.\nWhat you Need to attend:\n1. Your Experience:\n- You should have shot your rifle\, scope\, ammo combination numerous times and have tested ammo to choose the best one for your rifle\, and you must have your scope zeroed and centered too 5 shot shoot groups.\n- Know your scope\, rifle specs\, and how it all works.\n- Know how to slip your turrets on your scope\, and have the tools needed to do that.\n- For safety reasons if your Rifle or Scope is non-functional on the course\, you will be pulled from the course.\n2. ORA Membership + Waiver\nIf you are NOT an ORA 2026 Member\, you must register as a Guest\,\nand you must sign the Guest & Handload Ammo Waiver. Copy this link into your browser and sign every time you are a guest. Link: https://waivers.targetscore.com/d/RGv5jeWGv8AJmt\nORA Guest fee is $45\, and you must tick the Guest Fee box in Practiscore when paying and it adds the $45 Guest fee to your payment.\n(ORA allows you to attend twice as Guest\, and then you must Join ORA the cost ranges from $0 to $195. If you want to Join ORA sign up online at this link): https://ontariorifleassociation.ca/membership-types/\n- Chamber Flag / ECI (Empty Chamber Indicator) must extend into chamber.\n- Scope preferably 25 x magnification in FFP\, w/ Christmas tree reticle\, in MIL or MOA\n- Rifle Magazine: box type 10 or 12 round removable mags or hunting rifle set up.\n- 100 rounds of factory match ammo or safe Hand-Load ammo minimum.\n- Bi-Pod approx. 10" height\, plus extensions with Cant Control.\n- Shooting Bag (Used under Buttstock) preferably an Armageddon Schmedium w/ heavy sand\, or crushed glass fill. This is an inexpensive item\, that will give you a big improvement. Please buy one. If you have a Caldwell or some Amazon special filled with beans etc.\, you will only reduce your ability to shoot accurate groups.\n- Scope Level - either mechanical of electronic that attaches to Scope or Picatinny rail\, and shows you when rifle is level\n- Tools - All tools to adjust and slip your scope turrets\, scope mount\, buttstock\, and rifle\n- Shooting mat\n- Electronic Ears w/ Spare batteries. MANDATORY. You must be able to hear\n Range Commands. For safety reasons anyone not hearing or understanding\n range commands will be pulled from the event.\n- Eye Protection MANDATORY.\n- Sun Hat MANDATORY.\n- Sunscreen MANDATORY.\n- Water Minimum 5L\, preferably w/ Electrolytes. MANDATORY.\n You will be required to show your water. For Health and Safety reasons if you\n have signs of Heat Related Illness you will be pulled from the Course.\n-Snacks & lunch. There is nothing is available on site\, and no time to leave the range.\n- Appropriate clothing for the weather. We shoot rain or extreme heat. DO NOT WEAR BLACK CLOTHING. Wear light coloured and loose fitting clothing.\n- You may bring a Pop Up Tent to shelter under.\n- Work Gloves for Targets\n- Pens & Paper (Or device) for Notes\n- Allergic to anything? If so\, it’s mandatory to bring an EpiPen\, Antihistamines\, Benadryl etc. There will not be any on site as we cannot administer medication.\nCost and Course Details:\n- Course Cost is $400 (If a not an ORA Member + $45 ORA Guest fee)\nIf the course is full\, please sign up anyway and it will add you to the waiting list with no charge.\n- Read/watch course material sent to you in advance by email\n- Attend a 90-minute Zoom meeting to cover course material\n- 2 days shooting at CFB Borden w/ MOA test at end of course\nCourse Schedule:\n- Meet at 7.45 am at gate to Langemark Range (Do not be late)\, check in with Staff at gate. If gate is open proceed to the range\, leave all equipment in car and find a staff member to receive further instructions.\nHead Rifle Coach: Craig Samuel (aka Coach Sammy) is a:\n- Coaching Association of Canada (CAC) - Registered Coach with the Professional Coaching Program\n- Shooting Federation of Canada (SFC) – Shooting Instructor in ISSF (Olympic) shooting\, Certified in Pistol\, Rifle and Shotgun\n- Coach Sammy competes in long range rifle\, pistol and 3 gun matches of various disciplines and likes to shoot high scores. Precision and accuracy make Coach Sammy smile.\n- SAFETY BRIEFING: For safety reasons If you are not present for the start of the Safety Briefing you will not be allowed to shoot.\n- READ THIS PLEASE: If you are not certain you will attend this Course DO NOT REGISTER.\n- REFUNDS: Refunds are available up until 30 days before the course\, less an Admin fee of $5. Under no circumstances can any payments be transferred to a future event or used by someone else.\n- DO NOT SPEED ON BASE. This is a training Base\, and MPs will ticket and possibly escort you off the Base. Follow Speed limit signs.\n50 km/h through centre of CFB Borden\, 60 Km/h on Range Road\, 15 Km/h on any range access road. Pass Marching Troops at a max of 15 km/h and less to be respectful.\n- MATCH CANCELLATION BY MILITARY:\nIf the event is cancelled by the Military because they need the Range\, then a full refund will be issued\, if an alternate date does not suit you. This is not common and usually done well in advance due to CAF Range requirements.\n- Because we shoot on a Military Range\, Range Control can shut us down for a high Fire Index\, Lightning or Storm Warning etc. This is out of our control\, and there is no refund in that scenario. I have seen it happen only once in the last 10 years\, but it’s part of shooting on a Military Range\, and must be stated.

Shooters not checked-in and present for the safety brief will forfeit their spot. There are no exceptions to this.\n*****Match Fee*****\nMatch Fee: $65 ASC Members / $75 NON-ASC Members. To register with the member price\, you must have your ASC membership confirmed in Practiscore. Please "apply" for ASC membership in Practiscore. You can apply here: https://practiscore.com/clubs/aurora_sportsman_club/membership/join\nPlease note that memberships are typically verified within 3 business days.\n*****Description*****\nThis match will be a 2-PERSON TEAM MATCH and consist of 5-6 stages\, with targets out to 600 yards. Multiple bays will be utilized. Shooters are expected to bring their rifle zeroed\, with verified DOPE out to 600 yards. Unconventional distances will be used (e.g. 316\, 472 yards).\nHEART RATE WILL BE INCREASED via physical exertion during some stages.\nHEIGHTS WILL BE UTILIZED during some stages.\nPart of the unique fun of this match is that shooters may carry auxiliary equipment to use as they see appropriate\, but all of this equipment must be carried by the shooter and remain on their body or within arm's reach throughout the entire TIMED SEGMENT of each stage; this includes all ammunition for the entire match. Backpacks are commonly used. For example: the shooter may choose to use a rangefinder on a given stage\, and begin with it around their neck with all unused items stowed in their backpack. Useful but absolutely not mandatory equipment includes: backpack\, bipod\, sling\, kneepads\, tripod\, shooting bag\, rangefinder\, kestrel\, ballistics app on phone\, pencil/paper\, arm data board\, additional ammo.\nThe shooter will configure all attachments on their rifle (e.g. bipod\, sling) at the beginning of the match. Each stage will begin with this same configuration\, though these may be removed or added ON THE CLOCK. The same rifle must be used throughout the entire event unless a catastrophic\, irreparable failure occurs.\n*Change for 2026* The shooter may begin a stage with accessory items (such as a shooting bag or tripod) in-hand. Tripods and bipods must be fully collapsed at the beginning of each stage. Scopes may be adjusted prior to the timer unless otherwise stated.\nAbsolutely NO steel core/green tip/penetrator rounds allowed. Muzzle devices are allowed. Minimum of 2 magazines. Any cartridge .30 caliber or below allowed (commonly .223\, .308\, 6mm) though may not exceed a muzzle velocity of 3\,200 fps. Chronographs may be used and will result in a match DQ if speeds at the muzzle exceed 3\,200 fps.\nCarts\, rifle bags or strollers may be used for transportation of rifles and equipment between stages. Use of these items is not allowed during stage courses of fire.\nScoring will be Time Plus Misses. Inability to finish the COF is recorded as par time plus any missed impacts.\nThere will be a maximum par time and potential maximum round count per stage.\nAt minimum\, an optic magnification of 4x is required (more is highly recommended). A red dot with 4x or greater magnifier\, variable zoom scope\, prism\, etc. are approved as long as it achieves 4x magnification or greater. No limitation on maximum magnification. A secondary aiming solution is approved and optional.\nTotal hits required: Approximately 50 (Recommended 125+ rounds). No limit on the amount of ammunition that may be carried\, however it must all be carried by the shooter (just like equipment) throughout the timed portions of the match.\nNo sky loading of rifles permitted.\nBrass collection may not slow down the advancement of shooters during the match. This will be strictly enforced by RO’s.\nRifle/Team Requirements (for trophy eligibility):\n-At least one teammate must shoot .223/5.56 or .308/7.62 caliber\n-Semi-auto rifles only\n-No barrel length\, magnification\, or magazine restrictions\n(For those teams opting not to follow the requirements above\, you may still participate but will be ineligible to place for trophy purposes. At the end of the day we're here to have fun too)\n**NOTE: We operate a "cold range" and rifles are required to be unloaded in a case or cart\, with a chamber flag inserted at all times.\nRegistration fees are non-refundable\, except in the event of match cancellation.\n*****Squadding*****\nBe sure to join the same squad as your partner! If you do not yet have a partner and wish to participate in this match\, you may sign up now\, and you will be assigned a partner before the match.\n*****Gate Codes/Location*****\nIf you are not an ASC member\, you will need a code for the gate at the entrance to the range. The event gate code will be sent in the days leading up to the match. The safety brief will be held in the east building behind the general shooting ranges. There is an access drive between the 100 yard and 200 yard ranges that will take you to the east side. If you can't find them\, ask a club member or RSO and they can guide you back to the ranges. DO NOT BRING GEAR INTO THE SAFETY BRIEF.

If that is the only gun you bring\, you will not be allowed to shoot\nRifle slings are mandatory.\nKit is not required\, but this would be a good place to test it.\nThis will be a COLD range.\nHere is a link to sign our range waiver. SUMMARY:Colfax Trap August Duck Flurry
DESCRIPTION:Colfax Sportsmen's Club is hosting a Duck Flurry match August 22nd starting at 12PM.\nDuck Flurry is a 2 person competition consisting of 50 clay targets thrown one after another at various angles. The teams of 2 compete together and are scored based on the number of clays broken. Each competitor starts with two shells in their gun and then can load as many as they can while their partner shoots. This is a strategic competition as you don't want to shoot at the same clay as your partner and you don't want to be loading at the same time either. The team with the highest score at the end of the match wins.\nPrice is $12 per team per entry. No limit on how many entries you pay to enter.\nThere is no registration page as it is not required. Show up whenever and remember that the order to shoot is first come\, first served. Please bring guns cased up to the main range and check in at the club house.\nFor more questions please reach out to Lois at (715) 491-4337.
