SUMMARY:High Power Silhouette
DESCRIPTION:Contact Roger Estes @ rce497@comcast.net \nThis is a High Power Silhouette match per month from March thru November\, 2026\, These will be high power rifle silhouette matches fired on the Lea Valley Range with a total of 40 rounds for record. Records will be kept and sent to the NRA for classification purposes. For the matches practice will begin at 9a.m. and matches will begin at 10.Rules will follow the NRA High Power Rifle Silhouette Rules. Briefly\, rifles for Highpower silhouette have to be at least a minimum center-fire caliber of 6mm\, no maximum. Ammo cannot be belted magnum by Club Rules for ammo.Clothes can be commensurate with the weather but cannot be made specifically silhouette competition\, with the exception that leather vest specifically for rifle silhouette can be used.The match firing will be on relays\, each relay\, consisting of 4 shooting competitors and spotters . Spotters are not mandatory for these matches. Scoring can be done by a spotter or by the competitor's person. The relay is called to the line\, the command of ready is given which is 15 seconds to get prepared to fire the 5 shots in 2 1/2 minutes\, then a short rest\, then 5 more rounds in 2 1/2 minutes. Following these shots\, competitors will show their scores to the stat officer so the scores are recorded. Relays will continue till all animals are fired at. Scores are counted by the knock down of animals off the range rail\, to a maximum of 40 animals. Once the relays are complete\, scores will be counted up and the winner gets cash for the award\, total of 25 for aggregate match winner. $20 for Class winner. Each 3 competitors will get a n award of cash. A plaque award can be substituted for the cash. There is a separate category in which AR-15 rifles are allowed. AR's don't follow the silhouette rules\, mostly because of the shape of the rifle and caliber which is .223. They are allowed in a separate category in this match to get more competitors to shoot these matches\, just generating interest in this sport. They have no classification in the match\, just for fun. The matches are fired on the first Sunday of the month.

DESCRIPTION:Birds are flying and spring is in the air and you know what else in the skies? Some clays ready to get dusted! The Defender Outdoors Clay Sports Ranch Spring League is an 8 week shooting league where you’ll squad up and compete for awards and bragging rights. Then we’ll all get together at the end to party it up and toast to a season well shot! \nWHEN:\nStart the week of March 18th\, Shoot on 3/18\, 3/25\, 4/1\, 4/8\, SKIP 4/15 week due to State\, 4/22\, 4/29\, 5/6\, 5/13 and League Dinner Party/Awards on May 20th \n***Teams and Individuals can shoot anytime between Wednesday at 10AM and Sunday close of business each week.*** \nBASICS:\nLeague scores based on 50 targets per week.   \n(Practice course and 5-stand will also be available prior and after weekly rounds)  \nTARGETS:\nEnjoyable targets will be set by Gary Madigan and Team \nPRICE:\nPrice for league is $290 for all 8 weeks which includes the League Party dinner/awards.   \nTEAMS:\nA team is required to have a minimum of 4 shooters and a maximum of 6 shooters. Team scores will take the highest 4 shooters including handicap for the weekly total. Team rosters must be finalized by the end of the first week. Individual shooters will be grouped to form teams as needed\, and each shooter may compete on only one team per league. \nHANDICAPS:\nHandicaps are calculated by using the shooter’s weekly score\, then subtracting it from “par”\, which is 45 and multiplying the difference times .70 (70%) Example: If a shooter’s score is 30 the equation is 45-30=15 x .70 = 10.5. the product (in the example 10.5) will be added to the shooter’s score. Handicaps adjusted each week. Maximum score with handicap is 45. \nWEATHER and MAKE-UP ROUNDS:\nIf you are not able to make it on the scheduled evening\, bank scores must be made up by Sunday of that week or you will be given an average of 2 other weeks scores for that week. DESCRIPTION:22 Rimfire and Air guns only- Silhouette target shooting at the MPR. \nOffhand/Standing shooting at Metal Animal silhouettes with rifles or pistols\, open or scoped sights allowed. \nBenches are available during this practice period every Wednesday \nMembers of all 5 clubs are welcome.\n Fees are collected at the Multi Purpose Range\, not at the USI Clubhouse .\nThe MPR is the building on the right hand side as you pass the Public Range\, but before the Impalement Arts Range.\nLook for the red MPR flag on the flag post- that’s us!\n\nUSI waiver and a Blue Card issued from the USI clubhouse required prior to the match- there is no charge to these one time processes.\n\nA silhouette is a steel profile of an animal (chicken\, pig\, turkey\, or ram) standing on a pedestal. The object of the game is to knock as many silhouettes as possible off the stand\, shooting one round at each silhouette. It is a very simple competition\, with very simple scoring: Knocking an animal off its stand counts as a hit.\n\nAlthough silhouette is an easy game to learn\, it is not an easy game to master. The animals are rather small and the distances can reach out a bit; you must shoot offhand (standing); a moderate breeze can move a bullet or a pellet the width of an animal; your concentration becomes more difficult to hold as you knock down five in a row or with a close miss.  Silhouette is an endless challenge that makes you a better shooter!\nThis is a reoccurring event every Week- we intend to host this practice barring weather or extraordinary barriers preventing the event from occurring in a safe environment.
