DESCRIPTION:Smallbore Silhouettes is a series of 60 shots standing unsupported at steel animal silhouettes using a 22 caliber rimfire rifle. Targets are chickens at 40m\, pigs at 60m\, turkeys at 77m rams at 100m\, and all targets are 5 mils so they are all the same angular dimensions at their respective ranges. Participants may compete in Standard Rifle (competition style rifles) and/or Hunting Rifle (typical 22 caliber rifle). Cross US30/287.  Curtis becomes Reynolds. Continue East to 9th Street (approximately 1.8 miles East if I-80). Turn  left (North) on 9th Street\, which turns into Roger Canyon Road.  The Laramie Rifle Range is 4.4 miles North of Curtis/Reynolds.\nYour first landmark is the landfill on your LEFT (west side of road) about halfway between 9th Street and Rifle Range Rd.  Your second landmark is the deep right-hand curve leading to the tan metal barn with the faded Kelly green roof immediately after the curve; turn a sharp right onto Rifle Range Road immediately after the barn. Please observe speed limits; signs are badly faded and the road is well patrolled. Take Exit 15 down to the light. Turn left at the light and go under the overpass. In about a block\, you will see the USFS Fernan Ranger Station on the right hand side (South). Stay to the left and take the Fernan Lake Road through the Fernan Lake Village and around the lake. This is a scenic ride around the lake and through the country past farms and fields\, for approximately 6 miles. You will see the USFS trail head and a large paved parking lot on the left (North) side of the road. The entrance to FRGC is directly across the road from the USFS trail head. Drive down the entrance road approximately 100 yards and you will see the large FRGC gate which will be open\, so just drive through and follow the road to the large parking area on the right. \nFrom all points East – Take I-90 to Exit 15/Fernan (Not to be confused with the 15th Street Exit!). Take Exit 15 down to the light. Turn right at the light and the USFS Fernan Ranger Station will be on the right hand. Follow the directions above to the FRGC range.\nSee map on range website.  Google maps (as of November 2022) shows the range address in the woods east of the entrance road and gate.
