SUMMARY:Port Townsend Falling Plates Oct 31 2026
DESCRIPTION:This is a fast paced head-to-head competition of two shooters engaging sets of falling plates with the winner being the first to shoot down the overlapping popper plate.\nEach competitor goes to the line with two magazines for each pairing loaded with six rounds in each mag; this is to keep it fair for revolver shooters. Expect to shoot 200-250 rounds. The entry fee is $5 per gun\, you may enter up to two guns. Set-up and sign-up starts at 9am and shooting starts at 10am.\nThis match is for most centerfire and .22 LR pistols. If your pistol has optics or it's a race gun go ahead and bring it. Many shooters will show up with multiple guns so a good matchup always happens. Rimfire is now allowed as we have purchased a new rimfire competition plate rack. Full power magnums are not allowed as they destroy the plates. Rifle rounds are not allowed for the same reason.\nFun is paramount in this match! Sportsmanship and handicapping yourself if you have an advantage is always encouraged. This simply means that your status as a new or inexperienced shooter or firearms with optics or race guns will be taken into consideration for each matchup. The regular competitors are inventive and can create numerous matchups variations.\nYou will have fun!\nPay at the match.\nPrice:\n$5.00

SUMMARY:SSD Short Range Match - 31 October 26
DESCRIPTION:Hi Everyone:\nThe next Sensible Self Defense Academy Short Range Match is Saturday\, 31 October 2026\nCedar Ridge Range\, 7110 Farm to Market 1863\, Bulverde\, TX 78163\nPlease note the start time is 3:30 pm.\nCHECK-IN: 2:45 pm – 3:15 pm\nWe welcome walk in registration if you decide to attend at the last minute.\nSet up crew please arrive at 1:00 pm. Very important -- No set up crew\, no match. Please send me a note if you can assist with set up.\nCASH ONLY - Cost is $30.00 for one gun; shooting a second gun or shooting the match twice is an extra $10.00.\nPlease Note: This is not an IDPA Match--Practiscore essentially forces us to use the IDPA scoring format and lists it as such.\nWe will close Check-In at 3:15. If you are running late\, that's OK. Please call or text me and I will leave you on the match roster. As a courtesy to other shooters\, please withdraw if you cannot attend.\nEQUIPMENT: You need your pistol\, 3 magazines (minimum)\, a holster\, and magazine carrier. Revolver shooters need the equivalent for their pistols.\nYou may also shoot a Pistol Caliber Carbine (PCC) in 22 LR\, 9mm\, 10mm\, .40 S&W\, .45 ACP\, 44 Magnum\, .357 Magnum\, or 30 Carbine.\nYou may shoot larger calibers .556\, 300 Blk Out\, etc IF THE RIFLES ARE SUPPRESSED. You must use a suppressor on large caliber rifles. Please bring PCCs and rifles in a case or cart.\nIf you wish you may shoot pistol caliber manual rifle. Manual rifles will only need to place one “zero” down hit to neutralize the target for some stages. You may shoot a large caliber manual rifle (e.g. 30-30 or larger) but it must be suppressed as well.\nAmmunition: Less than 150 rounds depending upon how you shoot the match.\nFor More Information or Questions: ericlamberson@sensibleselfdefense.com\nShort-Range Course of Fire \nThe Short Range Match uses IDPA-style scoring and follows IDPA safety principles; however\, generally no target will be greater than 15 yards away from the shooter. Most stages are based upon a real-life event that was recorded on video and adapted for a square range. Otherwise\, it is a regular course of fire\, with some stages requiring a reload. When I send out the match results I include a link to the video of the events from that match. The idea is for the shooter to solve the problem and then view the video of the actual event to understand how it happened in real-life. \nThe short-range course of fire match seeks to replicate real life scenarios where you are more likely to use carry-suitable handguns. The match's guiding principle is to improve concealed carry skills. Ideally\, shooters will use a pistol they carry to shoot the match. All pistols may be loaded to magazine capacity; however\, the match may have some reloads on the clock or some malfunction drills. \nShooters may use any belt holster and magazine carrier/speed loader carrier suitable for carrying the pistol concealed. Shooters may reload from the pocket; however\, no drawing a pistol from the pocket\, a fanny pack\, shoulder holster\, etc. If in doubt\, please ask. \nFor More Information or Questions: \nericlamberson@sensibleselfdefense.com\n210-571-1617\nRegards\, Eric

SUMMARY:TPS HALLOWEEN Night Steel - October 2026
DESCRIPTION:HALLOWEEN Night Steel\, October 31st\, 2026\nFive Stages only (125 rounds) but bring extra rounds.\nCompetitors are encouraged to dress up for the match!\nRegistration Begins: 6:00pm-6:45pm\nSafety Briefing: 6:45pm-7pm\nStart of Match: 7pm\nEnd of Match: Approx. 10pm\nThis will be an outlaw match only. Scores will not count toward your SCSA classification. This is just for fun.\nAll SCSA Steel Challenge rules still apply with the following additional rules:\nAll competitors will be required to have an approved primary flashlight. Secondary flashlights are allowed for general illumination (walking\, reloading or other administrative purposes).\nApproved primary flashlights:\n1.	Must be capable of atleast 60 lumens but no more than 1000 lumens.\n2.	Must be securely attached to the firearm\, worn on the competitor (e.g. headlamp)\, or held in the weak/support hand (e.g. Chapman\, Harries or FBI technique) during the course of fire. Weapon lights attached to a firearm must remain attached to the firearm unless the firearm or light needs to be serviced at a designated Safe Area. Competitors will not be allowed to shoot with improperly secured devices.\nA) “Securely attached” is defined in this section as being fastened by screws\, rings\, M-Lok\, picatinny or 1913 rail systems. The flashlight can not be attached with duct tape\, scotch tape\, or any other kind of tape or glue. The Match Director will make the final decision on any questionably attached lights.\n3.	Competitors will turn ON their primary flashlight at the “Make Ready” command.\n4.	Competitors will turn OFF their primary flashlight AFTER the “If clear\, hammer down\, holster” command and just before holstering or bagging of the firearm.\n5.	Flashlights cannot be placed on the ground\, propped up or held by anyone else during the course of fire and must remain under the direct control of the competitor.\nLaser devices are allowed but must be used in conjunction with a flashlight (the laser is useless if you can’t see the target). Night vision devices are not allowed (because the RO needs to see the targets too).\nIf a primary flashlight fails or detaches during a course of fire\, the RO will immediately stop the current string and record the time and any misses. The shooter will have up to two minutes to attempt to reattach the light. If the shooter is unable to reattach the light after two minutes\, the RO will end the stage on that string and direct the shooter to a Safe Area to make further repairs. That shooter will be allowed to complete any un-shot strings should he be able to reattach the light.\nAfter a course of fire is completed\, any light that is NOT ATTACHED to a firearm can be activated to assist in spray painting targets\, reloading or other administrative purposes.\nDuring the course of fire\, only the competitor should have an activated flashlight pointed at the targets. However\, any Range Safety Office can activate his/her light at any time if they observe any safety violations and stop the competitor.\nSpectators and competitors that are not shooting should not have an activated flashlight pointed toward the targets while a course of fire is active. Competitors that are reloading or at a Safe Area should make every effort to not shine any lights towards the targets or the current shooter. All lights should be at a low power setting when not in use during a course of fire. Spectators and competitors that are not shooting should make every effort to not disturb the current shooter with excess light.\n*** IMPORTANT *** You must have these two waivers on file before you can shoot this event.\n1. Talon Range Waiver - https://waiver.smartwaiver.com/w/6217f5d300c84/web/\n2. TPS Waiver - https://form.jotform.com/261127149987064
