DESCRIPTION:*The Long Gong match will start at 10 am every 3rd Sunday of the month\, starting August 2026.  Gates open at 8 am for sight in.\n22lr only.  Front bipod/bag and rear bag only.  300 yards\, 8” (one point) 6” (2 points) and 4” (3 points) round steel gongs at 300 yards.  Hit to move\, miss you go back one plate.  Five rounds of 10 shots.\nWe have two racks and two benches.\n*Running at the same time will be The Freedom Shack KYL Challenge.  Additional $10 entry fee.  The Freedom Shack KYL Challenge is going to be run side-by-side with the Long Gong Match. This match consists of TWO KYL racks that go from 2" to 1/4" (8 targets per rack). One rack at 50 yards and one rack at 100 yards. The Challenge is hit to move. One string on each rack of 10 shots. To clean this challenge you have to shoot each target once and the 1/4" at the end a total of 3 times. The entry fee is $10\, 50% will be paid back to anyone who CLEANS BOTH RACKS. This is very hard to do and has not been done to date. The 50% if NOT paid out will be saved and rolled over to the next match until we have a winner\, so the pot grows each month. The winner also gets a very cool gold challenge coin I've had made\, winner meaning you've cleaned BOTH racks\, 20 shots straight.

DESCRIPTION:Steel shooting is a sport in which competitors are required to combine speed and accuracy to successfully complete the match. SVSS uses all 8 of the official steel challenge stages. All the stages are 5 strings of 5 shots each\, exept "Outer Limits" which is four strings\, requiring the shooter to engage steel targets from 7 to 35 yards. The targets vary in size from 10"\, to 12" round targets and 18" x 24" rectangles.  Sometimes a couple of stages are replaced with " outlaw" stages. There is no power factor like in USPSA\, IDPA\, and ICORE matches\, and the targets do not fall. This includes legal Concealed Carry. Guns can only be loaded under the direction of an RO/SO\, while in a shooting bay. You may load your magazines anywhere and anytime\, except while in a Safety Area.\nHearing and Eye Protection: are required for all participants and spectators.\nSafety Area: The Safety Areas are defined by signs and are located between every other bay. In the Safety Area you may move your unloaded gun between case and holster\, practice draws\, dry fire and repair or clean your gun as needed. While in the Safety Area no ammunition handling is allowed. This includes snap caps.\nSafe Gun Handling: Treat all guns as if they are loaded. Follow your RO’s instructions.\n180 Rule: While shooting a course of fire your muzzle must never point up range of the 180 lines of the stage.\nFinger Rule: Your finger must remain outside of the trigger guard except while engaging targets. Your finger must not be in the trigger guard during reloads\, while clearing jams or while moving.\nSweeping: You must not sweep any part of your or anyone's body with your muzzle at any time.\nAccidental Discharge: A shot that occurs unintentionally on a stage while loading\, reloading\, unloading\, clearing a malfunction\, moving while not engaging a target\, goes over a berm while not engaging a target\, while retrieving a staged gun not aimed at a target or hits the ground within 10’ of you.\nDropped Gun: If your gun falls out of your holster\, case or cart\, DO NOT PICK IT UP. An RO must pick it up\, clear and holster it for you. If the gun you dropped was loaded\, or you drop a gun during a course of fire you will be Disqualified from the event.\nI acknowledge that I have read and understand these safety rules.
