DESCRIPTION:Are you a student who has taken an online LTC Course and need to complete your shooting qualification? Defender offers the LTC shooting proficiency portion every week. \nThe shooting qualification requires that you must be able to load\, unload\, and fire the handgun proficiently. If you are new to or inexperienced with shooting we strongly recommend taking either the LTC Prep or Handgun Fundamentals course. This course does not teach basic firearm skills or shooting instruction. (More info) \nPlease arrive a few minutes early to check in and bring a printed copy of your LTC 104 form. \nOur shooting qualification schedule is as follows: \n\nWednesdays – 10:00am\nSaturdays – 8:00am\n\nNo appointment needed\, you can simply walk-in during these available times. \nPlease bring the following: \n\nLTC 104 Form\nFirearm (rental available at additional charge)\n1 magazine\n50 rounds of ammo (ammunition is available for purchase at time of session)\nEye and Ear Protection (rentals available)\n\nREGISTER NOW

DESCRIPTION:Practical Shooting 1 is a 2-hour class designed to prepare you for your first practical shooting match\, or refine your fundamentals. This course addresses the foundational skills to practical shooting in a fun and challenging way. \nPractical Shooting 1 sets a strong base for the beginning of your competitive shooting journey. The instructor’s goal for this course is to prepare you for the widely available practical shooting matches in the DFW area\, to include our own here at Defender Outdoors. For those who have already shot some matches but are looking for more than the basics\, please contact the instructor for a private lesson or look for our Practical Shooting 2 class. \nTopics Covered: \n\nPhysical structure\, grip\, and vision\nPredictive and reactive shooting\nConfirmation levels\nTarget transitions\nEntries and exits\nShooting on the move\nHit factor scoring\nProper equipment configuration\n\nWhat To Know Before You Get Here: \nWe request that all students do an honest self-evaluation of experience and skill level. Brand new shooters or those unsure with their abilities will feel overwhelmed jumping into a class like Practical Shooting 1\, which we have seen lead to safety issues and overall\, a lack of having fun. If that’s you\, we would love to see you in one of our other courses such as “Intro to Handgun”\, or “Pistol 2”! Taking one of these classes or a private lesson will set the stage to come into Practical Shooting 1. \nAt a minimum\, we recommend that you have confidence in the following: \n\nStrong understanding of the 4 Universal Rules of Firearm Safety\nYour accuracy out to 25 yards\nSafe draw from the holster and experience with your equipment\nProficiency with your firearm and the ability to clear any malfunctions\nHave any questions about the gear you have? Contact us at training@defenderoutdoors.com\n\nRequired Equipment: \n\nSemi-automatic handgun\, 9mm to 45ACP (No revolvers or calibers under 9mm)\nRed dots are HIGHLY encouraged but not required\nBelt mounted kydex or similar material holster on or forward of the hip (No leather or “sticky” holsters\, and no drawing from behind the hip)\n3 magazines or more\nMagazine pouch/holder (At least one)\nAppropriate range attire (pants\, close-toed shoes\, shooting belt or a sturdy belt)\nAppropriate ear and eye protection\n250 rounds of ammunition minimum (No steel core\, steel case\, or aluminum case allowed)\nNOTE: Round counts may vary\n\nREGISTER HERE
