SUMMARY:RRPC Reactive Steel - July 2026
DESCRIPTION:This is our monthly steel match at RRPC\, open to the general public.\nThe match fee is $10\, payable in cash or check (made out to "Cash") on the day of the match.  Exact change is greatly appreciated.  Match staff shoots for free.\nThe match comprises three stages and features approximately 90 reactive steel targets.\nThe match is held on the lower ranges.  Shooters check in at the Pistol Range Firing Line starting at 8:00 AM.  Shooters briefing is at 8:30 AM\, and shooting starts immediately after the briefing ends.\nEar and eye protection is mandatory for all\, including spectators.\nThis match is run as a Cold Range\, meaning no one has a loaded gun until they are at a shooting position and commanded to load by their safety officer.\nIDPA/USPSA safety rules and commands govern this match.\nCompetition divisions for this event are:\nCFPI - Center-Fire Pistols with iron(open) sights\nCFPO - Center-Fire Pistols with optics\nPCC - Center-Fire Pistol Caliber Carbines or braced pistols\nAmmo must be common pistol cartridges\, no magnums please. No steel core ammo allowed.  Bring plenty of ammo!\nScoring is elapsed time plus 5 seconds for any target not knocked over or down.  Lowest score wins.\nNormal starting position is with a holstered pistol or PCC at the low ready\, with all safeties engaged.  Pistol shooters without a holster or uncomfortable drawing from a holster may start from the low ready position but receive a 3 second penalty.\nPistol shooters without holsters and PCC shooters must keep their firearms cased until it is their turn to shoot.

It will have 4 IPSC Rifle only stages\, or be rifle only adaptations of select MGN stages TBD. One does not need to participate in MGN to shoot this match and vice versa. This match can be shot on its own or in addition to MGN.\nAt the request of USPSA\, we are incorporating this alongside the MG Nationals\, but it is a separate match. Things like DQ's from one do not influence the other. We are extremely excited to host our 2026 Series Rivals and Teams event here\, as it is going to provide competitors with a great shooting experience.\nTactical Biathlon is a 2-gun biathlon. Competitors carry a rifle and pistol over a predetermined course of fire ranging in distance.\nEach competitor is assigned a unique start time to enter the course. Re-supplying once on the course is not permitted.\nCompetitors will encounter several stages to shoot at throughout the course. These stages may be rifle only\, pistol only\, or a combination of the two.\nCompetitors have 3 minutes to complete a stage. If the competitor fails to complete a stage within the time allotted\, they will receive a Did Not Finish (DNF).\nEach stage has a unique layout including varying numbers of targets and distances to the targets. Competitors must be able to adapt to the stage\, target size\, and distance on their own in order to complete the stages.\nGenerally\, pistol targets will range from 15-75 yards\, while rifle targets will range from 50-700 yards.\nCompetitors will be put in unique situations and positions that will require engaging targets they might not be accustomed to. Additionally\, some stages might require movement\, or transitions from one position/weapon to another. Safety is paramount. Competitors and ROs will ensure that shooters are moving with the safety on\, finger off the trigger\, and muzzle down range. Failure to do so will result in disqualification. A DQ will be removal from the course\, and you will be done for the day.\nWhile running on the course\, rifles will not be loaded or have a mag inserted. Pistols are allowed to be in condition 1 (magazine inserted and a round in the chamber) while holstered. Competitors will be checked at the start/finish along with the entry/exit of every stage. Failure to follow this (or competition specific rules/regulations) will result in immediate disqualification.\nOur competitions will weight your score 50% for shooting and 50% for run time\, unless otherwise specified on the event page.\nThe Series event will be a 6-10 mile course in the typical Tactical Biathlon style.\nThe Rivals and Teams event will utilize the Series course with modified stages and a lessened distance. This is a centerfire match; rimfires will not reliably knock the steel down. All targets are 8” diameter or larger total square inches and placed 10-20 yards from the shooter’s table. Start position is with safety engaged and muzzle touching the table. No holster draws to start. Reloads can come off the table or off the belt. Guns need to be bagged or holstered until the “Make ready” command is issued by the range safety officer. This is a cold range. Eye and ear protection is required for all competitors and spectators.
